Legion Drum & Bugle Corps

Our flagship performance ensemble — entering DCI’s SoundSport division for the 2027 season.

The founding season

In our first year, Legion Performing Arts will field one performance ensemble: Legion Drum & Bugle Corps. Members will help build the culture, standards, and competitive identity of Legion from day one as we prepare for SoundSport in 2027 — and serve the community through performances at patriotic events, Memorial Day and Veterans Day observances, parades, and other local gatherings.

Frequently asked questions

What is SoundSport?

SoundSport is Drum Corps International’s community-oriented marching music division. Ensembles have more flexibility in size, instrumentation, and show design than traditional DCI World or Open Class corps — so more students can get a high-quality competitive experience without a full national tour. Legion Drum & Bugle Corps will enter SoundSport for the 2027 season. Read more about SoundSport.

Is Legion Drum & Bugle Corps open to all ages?

Yes. Ages 14–21 are our primary educational target, so older members will be expected to act as mentors and complete youth safety training to protect younger members.

Does Legion do a summer tour?

In our first year we will be primarily a weekends-only activity throughout the summer. We will not do a summer tour that includes Legion-provided transportation and housing.

How much does it cost to participate?

We are prioritizing affordability as we establish this organization and expect member dues to be less than $1,000 — much less than the typical $5,000–$6,000 summer dues for a World Class DCI corps.

When does the season start?

We will hold audition camps in the spring, after the primary DCI audition season is over. Specific camp dates to come.
